ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Becky, a garden designer and RHS horticulturist based in Kent.
My approach to garden design has grown from 25 years of working with plants. Before becoming a garden designer, I spent 15 years working in a wholesale nursery, growing plants for garden centres and learning first-hand what makes them thrive.

There were plenty of sleepless nights worrying about frost and weekends spent watering, but there was also the excitement of seeing plants grow and discovering how they performed in different conditions. I’d often take plants home, try them in my own garden and share them with friends and family, gradually building an instinct for which plants work well together and where they are happiest.
That practical knowledge is something I bring to every garden I design. I’m interested not just in how a garden looks when it’s finished, but in how the plants will grow, how the space will be used and how everything will work together over time.

I qualified with the British Academy of Garden Design, graduating with Distinction, and my design work is underpinned by a strong horticultural understanding. I enjoy bringing the two together, creating gardens with a clear sense of place, good planting and spaces that work for the people who use them.

When I’m not designing gardens, you’ll usually find me outside somewhere walking my spirited dog, surfing, exploring new places or finding another excuse to get muddy!
I like gardens to feel considered without feeling over-designed. There should be room for plants to grow, people to relax and a little bit of unexpectedness too.
I’m interested in making gardens that are beautiful but also practical, resilient and enjoyable to live with. Good planting is at the heart of that, alongside thoughtful decisions about layout, materials and how the garden fits into its wider surroundings.
I also believe gardens should have a life of their own. Plants change, people change and the way we use a garden can change too. A good design gives you a strong starting point while leaving room for the garden to develop.
